Candidate for the position of Campus Network Lead

ATHELYN HACKNEY

I have an idea for a student-led project, which would benefit both the student community and the wider university. Additionally, I think it could strengthen the links between the student community and the Students Union.

I am a postgraduate student and studied at undergraduate level at UoG, so I am just entering my 4th year. This means that I've had 4 years of experience with the student community and facilities at UoG, and I am passionate about giving back to the university. I would like to leave my mark behind, and through my student-led project idea, I believe I could do this. Furthermore, working as a Network lead would allow me to liaise with the SU, the SU officers and strive for change at the university.

I've worked as a student ambassador for the past 3 years, so I'm familiar with welcoming prospective students to the university and its campuses. I love talking about my experiences here and showing students what the university campuses have to offer.

As for why others should vote for me, I really want to make a difference to students' lives and studies at UoG. I am based at Park for my studies, Oxstalls for my job, and FCH for my nearest student centre and library, so I believe that in terms of reaching students, I am in a good position to do so.

I am focused and committed to helping others and would love to see the university continue to grow.
