Lobby the University for a Virtual Desktop

    Current
Part of the university's Digital Strategy 2022 - 2027 was to implement a Virtual Desktop. This was available during CV19 but is no longer the case. What is it? A way for students to stream (like YouTube) software that requires more computing power than what their device is capable of through the university's server. Who would this help? Any course that uses course specific software - such as MATLAB's, JASP, or ArcGIS pro. Why up-vote? Students would not need as good hardware to use the necessary software. This could be used any where there is Wi-Fi. Not loose your work - its backed up to the server. Separate work and home desktop, great for work life balance. Why not vote? Has high startup costs. This would allow student to work remotely (may reduce attendance). Many people using it can slow the software (like when 5 people are using the internet and your YouTube lags)
