Starting this week, your 3 Full Time Officers will be updating you weekly on what they’re working on to make your time at UoG the best it can be! Remember, you can comment below or get in touch with the team if you have any feedback.
Activities and Opportunities Officer – Ness Garratt
This week I have started implementing discussions around my campaign #kNOwmore. I have begun the organisation of a new working group to review the student code of conduct to ensure that the university moves to a harm reduction approach and away from a zero-tolerance policy. We are also participating in the Students Organising for Sustainability Drug and Alcohol Survey (opening soon!), where so long as 100 students from our own institution take part, we will receive our institutional specific anonymised data which will be pivotal to understanding our student body and how we can best support the students at The University of Gloucestershire.
Education and Community Officer – Kit Boulting-Hodge
On Wednesday after UUC, I met with the internal comms team and have solidified dates for my Accountability Surveys - with backing from the Deputy Vice Chancellor and the heads of schools, the proposed months are in December and April. This will give students a chance to win a share of £200 and ensure that both the SU and the wider university priorities are straight. I have also advocated for students in various Management Team meetings and this has already translated in others bringing my ideas to the CTP!
Look out for the results of Network Lead elections.
Welfare and Diversity Officer – Bobola Ajibola
I commenced the Awarding Gap Campaign class visits, where I engaged with students in various classes, raising awareness about the awarding gap. I’ve been actively answering their questions, facilitating discussions, and gathering insights on their experiences regarding this issue.
Also, I took part in promoting the Network Lead Elections, encouraging students to participate by casting their votes.
Lastly, Ness and I attended the Accommodation Fayre at Pittville, where we spoke to students about the "Think Before You Ink" Campaign, providing information and answering questions about the campaign's message and importance.
