Hi, I’m Amy, the new Student Communities Coordinator here at UoGSU! I’m here to support societies and events to help you get the most of your time at university, make memories and build connections!
A bit about me: I studied Filmmaking at UWE, specialising in producing. After that, I worked at Frightmare Halloween Festival and Gloucester Guildhall on live music, cinema, and community events. I’ve also been involved in pop-up events like ice rinks and literature festivals. All of this means I've got bags of tips and experience to support you to get the most out of your activities.
I love films, especially 'so-bad-they’re-good' ones (Bad Movie Night is a favourite with my friends). I also enjoy theatre and am currently rehearsing for a play opening in February.
I’m excited to work with the SU and hear your creative ideas for events and activities. First up, I’m helping with the Welcome Back Fayre on 28th January. It’s a great chance to check out society stalls, meet new people, and join clubs. There’ll also be events in the weeks after to try something new and make lasting friendships.
Don't hesitate to reach out to me if your in a society or just looking to organise a great event whilst here at UoG and I'll do all I can to make it amazing: aheywood1@glos.ac.uk
