We recently had the opportunity to attend training on initiations, hazing, and being an active bystander with The Hollie Gazzard Trust. The session emphasized the importance of identifying and preventing harmful initiation practices and how to intervene effectively as a bystander. It provided essential skills to recognize when someone might be at risk and how to step in without compromising safety, encouraging a culture of respect and inclusion within groups.

Alongside this training, we’ve been busy developing a comprehensive Society Starter Pack. This pack is designed to guide new members through their first experiences with the society, offering resources that explain the values, expectations, and how to use the society to its fullest! It includes essential information on how to engage in events and activities in a way that promotes respect and teamwork.

Additionally, we’ve been actively involved in organizing and leading meetings with different groups about our upcoming fundraising events. These meetings are focused on brainstorming creative and impactful ways to raise funds while remaining true to our society’s mission and values. We’re considering a variety of initiatives, including charity gameshows, awards nights, and collaborative events with other organizations.

We’ve also been following up on existing fundraisers to ensure everything is progressing smoothly. This involves checking in with team leaders to offer support, ensuring deadlines are met, and helping troubleshoot any challenges they face. Keeping everyone motivated and aligned with our goals is key to making these efforts successful, and seeing the enthusiasm from our members has been truly rewarding.
