Our Society intends to welcome everyone even those not taking STEM studies, as engineering is just about creativity as it is being a know it all :)

We also will provide an enviroment for group study to help students get together and bond over our mutual suffering.

What we intend to offer:

Year or semester long projects
We are planning multiple projects that will be put towards members to vote from. So far, we have the following in mind

  • Drone Transportation Project
  • Popsicle Bridge Project
  • Potato Cannon Project
  • Rainwater Capture and Treatment Project
  • Recycle and Reuse Project
  • Rocket Project
  • Siege Engine Project

Projects will be given briefs to help members understand the criteria of the project and guide them on what research to begin looking into. The purpose of the projects are purely educational but there is a great deal to learn and  develop yourself within the project so dont be afraid to get involved.

Mini Projects

Smaller projects will be implemented throughout the year so you dont have to be deeply involved for a long term project and still enjoy the fun of engineering.

  • Origami Projects
  • Rapid Design Projects
  • Mini builds
  • Society Fund Raising Projects

Socials

MONTHLY SOCIALS

To provide a break from solely focusing on engineering we will attempt to organize monthly socials to provide members a chance to socialize and relax in a casual setting.

WEEKLY MEETINGS

These weekly meetings will be held in relation to projects and society orinated tasks. As of updating this, weekly meetings (starting in October) are held in the BE building on Park Campus - join the WhatsApp group for instant updates :)

INTERNAL EVENTS

These will be small competitions and turn in days for projects that will be dispersed throughout the year. That will offer sweets as a reward for winning.

  • Sketch competitions
  • CAD competitions
  • Calculous bees
  • Engineering quiz night

EXTERNAL EVENTS

External events will be related to engineering that we may organise to travel to or we may organise events that are held on the university campus, potentially this includes:

  • Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester)
  • Science Museum (London)
  • The Helicopter Museum (Weston Super-mare)
  • Canal & River Trust Canals (location varies)
  • Big bang fair (location varies)
  • Engineering related seminars (location varies)

Membership is £5 this to help fund projects and socials.
